Re: What are you playing/listening to?

zot_79 - 15 Mar 2002 10:05:28

Good suggestions for listening and playing.
I've been listening to the amazing collection of surf bands on
MP3.com (check out Paul Johnson's amazing catalog) for free. Also
the 'surf' channels on Live365.com.
I'm still working on playing the basics:
Pipeline, Walk Don't Run, Misirlou, Telstar, Apache

I've been playin' as of late:
The Phantom Surfers versions of theme from Beach Girls & The Monster
and Hot Butter's Popcorn, also their originals Stumps of Mystery &
Slotter on 10th Avenue.
Dick Dale- The Wedege (also incorporating parts from the Johnny
Bakarat & The Vestells version.) & Ghost Riders in The Sky
Davie Allan & The Arrows- Cody's Theme as well as The Hondels version
of The Rebel (Without A Cause)
The Untamed Youth- F.U.J.I.M.O.
Link Wray- I'm Branded, Pancho Villa
Music from the 60's Spider-Man cartoon
Stuff I'm having a tough time pryin' out my CD changer:
Link Wray- Slinky, Epic Sessions 1958-61
The Untamed Youth- Major Chaos
The Squares- Teenage Surf Madness
CD-R comp of Hal Blaine & The Young Cougars, Krontjong Devils,
Tremelo Beer Gut, and Shig & Buzz
Another CD-R comp featuring the most KILLER version of The Wedge done
live by Dick Dale in 1963. I'm still trying to learn how to play as
fast as he does in this version.
