Super cool guitar! I built a reproduction D.D. strat ( righty, not
lefty) about 6 years ago, even got him to sign it at a show, but
mine doesn't have the Kenpo Karate sticker. Anyone know where to get
one... it would be the finishing touch. On a side note, when I was
seven, I bought a poster of Elvis, and the Gibson acoustic he was
playing had that same decal, so which came first, Elvis' decal or
Dicks?
What kind of pick ups on that get fiddle?
Thanks, Rick!

I put in Fender Custom 54's with an on-off switch for the neck
pickup, so I can run the neck/bridge combo, or all three.
Cool, are those just 54 reissues or what does custom mean?
Surfs up, Rick!

C'mon Chris if you really have to ask who had the sticker first then you
don't know Dick;)

I thought Elvis and Dick studied Kenpo simultaneously...I
think it was around '72 or '73...during the Bruce Lee
Craze...

I figure the way Dick would tell the story is: Elvis came over to
his house, said something like "No- YOU are the King!" and gave him
the sticker after they discussed how much Dick's music influenced
Elvis! Ha!! Seriously, Dick Dale is GREAT, even if he does stretch
the truth a little bit.... I would give anything to be able to
harness Dick's power for just one song myself.

I just listened to Dick Dale, King of the Surf guitar in its entirety and
was amazed at how many back ground vocals, rythm guitars, pianos & horns are
backing him up with those angry drums, ..."WOW," lots of sax & trumphet
solos!
But, the personality and power certinly comes from Dick and the Beast!
Another quick chime I'd like to make is the importance silence makes in
music. If everything is just a wall of sound with out silence to contrast
it, well, you are more likely going to be left with a bad attitude and an
ear ache! smile

Ugghh...Dick Dale bashing!! You are hurting my feelings and my rugged
He-Man sensibilities. I did enjoy the "true" story of how Elvis got
the decal in Vegas! I think Evel Knievel was there that weekend, too.
On a different subject, that Eddie Bertrand sure was good, huh!

Don't get me wrong, I should have mentioned that I am listening to this
disk through ears that are still ringing from to much Dick Dale at far to
much volume! Huh???
Dick Dale is the King of the 1st wave and I am learning through bleeding
ears...
It's all good, rick Dale?

Dick Dale is cool...
he's like that Uncle you always see at
Thanksgiving,Christmas and Easter. You know, you tease him
and poke fun, but, underneath all the razzing, you still
think the dude is cool.
