Well, I've taken care of the various issues I had posted on this
site, so here's a final status report (whether you want it or not).
As far as my Fender reverb questions are concerned, I can now get the
tone control on my re-issue BF Fender reverb past 3 (and all the way
to 6 and beyond). As soon as I had got it, I had replaced the stock
GTs with a NOS Marconi 6K6 and Electro Harmonix AT7 and 5751. That
helped a bit, but not much. I've now changed the tubes again, to a
NOS Silvania 6K6 and JAN Phillips AT7 & 5751, and that seems to have
done the trick.
As for my BF Bandmaster head and cabinet: I installed a pair of
Groove Tube GE's in the head, and replaced the deteriorated Oxford
(and a non-stock replacement speaker) with a pair of Jensen C12Ns
from Vintagespeakers.com, and it's now a powerhouse festival of sweet
and punchy tones-- and loud.
Incidentally, Joe at Vintagespeakers.com is a great guy, and quite a
rock'n'roll player. He's got good prices on a range of Jensen
speakers. I don't mean to be shilling for him (I suspect he doesn't
need it), but if you want Jensens, check him out, he's very helpful
and accomodating.
So, I'm ready to beat the bushes and line up more gigs.
