Hi All,
I had a simelar problem with a good sounding small practice amp, I was
never satified with the tone and when I was, the rest of the house
wasn't, bacause it was too loud. So I went looking for an alternative,
which I found.
I'm now using a Behringer V-AMP 2 for my home playing, not a real amp
but a amp simulation. I was "VERY" Sceptical about this divice first,
but when I hooked up my Jag or Jazzmaster, used the Black twin amp
setting and lots of reverb...man what a sound...I use headphones with it
mostly and even at low volumes it sounds full and big. And the thing is
not that pricy. It can be found almost everywhere for around 160 $/Euro.
And the possibilities are almost endless. 32 Amp simulations, around 20
Speaker cab simulations, 15 build in FX and a separate Reverb with it's
own 8 different spring simulations...I'm impressed.
I play a lot more now, since I really like the sound. No more thin
sounding guitar, and for less then most good practice amps. You can plug
it into your stereo or PC if you want to, put midi signals thru it, use
it for recording etc...And it is not that complicated to use.
It's all simulations, but good enough for home practicing IMHO. Unless
you really want that BF Duall Showman with the 2x15 JBL's and vintage
reverb tank for home practicing, the V-Amp looked like a good
alternative to me.
Just an idea,
Jerry S.
