Surfmusic forums, need some feedback

Klaas Van Waesberghe (murphy_the_surfie) - 21 Sep 2003 12:12:35

Hi everyone,
I've been subscribed to cowabunga, reverborama and surfguitar101 for a while
now (except the latter), and noticed this communication system really has
some flaws, especially being registered to several lists instead of one and
an inbox cluttered with digests or mails.
I'm not sure about everyone here but I think this might need a change. I've
been used to using forum software for quite a few years now and it's
something way better then this once you get the hang of it. A while ago I
got a webserver with the idea of setting up a surfmusic website. Because I
don't have much time the site will take a while to complete, so instead I've
set up a forum, which could be a good addition to these mailinglists:
I haven't promoted the whole thing yet, so there aren't any posts right now.
I was hoping some people here could get the ball rolling, or atleast tell me
if this is a good idea or not.
The advantages of these forums are categorized discussions, moderators,
custom settings, your own profile/account, no need to login (if you want
that), private messaging, archiving, etc. Since I own the software and
webspace (and not a company like Yahoo) everything can be customized to the
need of the whole community.
If you're interested you could register and post some stuff there. If you're
new to using forums you're always welcome to send me an email and I'll
explain you how the whole thing works (there is also some info in the
introductions forum).
Best regards,
Klaas aka Rod
