End of the road for the POP MART

Ferenc Dobronyi (ferencnd) - 16 Sep 2003 14:25:34

All good things must come to an end, and with a bit of sadness I must announce
the end of the POP MART. It has been a lot of fun and too much work. I really
enjoyed supplying ravenous surf music fans with great CDs and helping the bands
make their music available. Seems like Sean at Double Crown and Dave at ZptDuda
are doing a great job, so please support them and buy CDs*!
The Mart will be open until the first week of October, (I think.) Any CD listed
on the order form is still in stock. If you want anything order it now. I still
have a few of the very hard to find The Quiets "Take a Flight With" CD.
I want to especially thank all of the bands I have worked with, it has been my
pleasure to serve you.
Ferenc
*PS:
Please don't burn copies to give to your friends, if they like the music,
encourage them to get their own CDs. The average surf band prints up 500 or
1000, the profits(?) will barely be enough to cover the recording and
manufacturing costs.

A Huge thanks to Ferenc,
Dude if it wasn't for you The Woodies CD would never have happened.
I'm setting my reverb at half volume today.

I'll second the huge thanks to Ferenc - I've picked up a lot of good stuff from
the POP MART and will miss it.
Thanks for helping me get that needed dose of surf, Ferenc!

Oh Yeah! One of the first 90's surf CD's I bought was The Woodies and I
bought it from Ferenc. I was later disappointed to find out that not all
90's surf bands are as good as The Woodies ;-)
So Rick and Ferenc, how did The Woodies CD come about? I understand the band
had broken up when it was released. The liner notes mention "an acrimonious
on-stage break up" too...
Thanks,
BN
