Digitech rp2000
vood labs sparkle drive
Boss Ds1
Cry baby wah
whats the next step guitar or the reverb
Hi,
I guess you can nail the surf tone with with the strats, the 4x10 will
sound a bit more harsh then the the usuall 12" or 15" But the "Deville"
will certainly cut it.
The Kent semi hollow should work (many, is not most of the first wave
bands used all kind of guitars, including lots of semii hollows)
Surf music is preferably played on single coils.
The digiteh unit can be used to add some echo or delay to you sound,
perhaps even the reverb might work.
I'm not familiar with the "voodo sparkle drive", the DS 1 might come in
handy for some "link wray" stuff or other less clean surf thingies, heck
in the wah might be handy to have around.
See what kind of tones you can get with the equipment you have.
Experiment a bit or try to recreate a sound you like of a certain (surf)
band or guitar player. IMHO it all depents on what your goal is. Play
instro surf in a band who really wants to nail the tone? (Then go
Showman with JBL and Vintage guitars) or do you just want to get the
"surf" vibe in you misic or playing?
(still 350 is not utterly cheap for a tank. You guys can get vintage
Premier tanks for arround $200....)
In all, much is in your playing as there is no real "standard" for surf
(IMHO)

Hi that's allready a fine collection you've got there...
having to choose between tank and jag, I'd go for the tank. it sems to mee
that fatstrat - tank blues deville will give a way surfier tone then jag/JM
- blues deville.
the blues deville is (in my opinion, and totally apart from surf) a mighty
fine amp. the ss driven reverb is just not very surfy.
Don't know about all the different tanks, but it might also take a liitle of
the mellowness off the Deville, at least my (cosmoverb) tank does that to my
amp.
regards
