I have a Dillion Mosrite style guitar and I'm really quite happy
with it.It is a well made guitar,plays and looks great.Has good surf
tone.The bigsby style tail piece gives you what you need and overall
I would say a good surf guitar for the money.
I also Have 2 Dipinto guitars,A Los Straitjackets Gallaxie and a
Belvedere with a bigsby .Dipinto guitars are really good guitars and
you really can't go wrong with one.Both have all the good surf stuff
you need.I would give the edge to the Belvedere as far as tone.The
Galaxie has those cool red pickup switches that give you a whole lot
of pickup combos.
Alot of talk about Jazzmasters,Jags and such on this site and yes,I
do like my Jazzmaster the best,but there are a whole lot of real cool
surf guitars out there other than Fenders.Check out an Italia Modina
2 if you really want a cool Surf Ax!
I have a Dipinto Gallaxie red and I put Dick Dale very heavy strings on
it. Sold my Jaguar, the Dipinto outplays it anyday, tone and ease and
the neck dosen't shift like on the Jag.
The owner of the company in Phalidelphia was great to work with, he
understood what I wanted even though he had'nt done it before with
strings that heavy, made the adjustments to the bridge and bar and its
terrific. Also 1/2 the price of the Jag
