Dillion Mosrite copy

epiphonecasino2001 - 24 Aug 2003 11:44:27

Hey all-
I'm new here and I figured I start off with a guitar post. I've been
thinking about either getting a MIJ Jazzmaster or a Dillion Mosrite.
I like the quality of MIJ Fenders, and I'm not too sure on the
quality of Dillion being that I've never played on. I have however
played a "real" mosrite and I didn't like the small frets. Also I
really like The Ventures tones from 64-66, which makes me lean
towards the Dillion a bit more.
What would you suggest?

If it were me i would lean towards the jazzmaster, but i would also check
out vox, or the high quality remake the phantom guitar works guitars.

The Jazzmaster will cut it, no doubt about that.(I would advise a pick
up grade up if you go for the MIJ/CIJ one. Seymour Duncan and Fender
make nice replacement Pu's)
Since the mosrite has a smaller scale then the Jazzmaster, would the
Dill(i)on have the same smaller frets?
I like the tone of the mosrite myself, but like you I can't play on it
because of the narrow arm and small frets.
But if you like the smaller scale, check out the Jaguar as well.

Depending on how much money you're lookin to drop, you
might want to check out the Mosrite copies at
I remember somebody on here bought one and posted a
review of it, but I can't put my finger on who it was.
I think I remember them saying that it was a pretty
reasonable facsmile of the old Mosrite tone. It might
be worth checkin out.

I'm not sure on the size of the frets on the Dillion, it says medium
jumbo on their site so I'm guessing they aren't the same as the
Mosrites. I don't think I coul dplay a jaguar do to the the scale
length, and the Dillion Mosrites scale is 24 3/4.

I've been looking at the Dipinto Galaxie with the 4 rocker switches.
What do you guys think about those? Again I've never played one of
these so any input is appreciated.
