I was just wondering what everyone's take on this
thing is. It seems to be the granddaddy of the SVG
800 (which I think is a really cool looking guitar).

looks cool to me...it is probably early 70s...(the logo
looks like 70s Yamaha)...and you are correct, it does
appear to be the grandpa of the SVG...what a cool guitra!

Super cool odd looking guitar and the color is very nice as well.
Looks Early seventies to me.
I also like the Jaguar/mosrite pick up placement. Should sound nice.
