I stumbled upon some instrumentals by the String-A-Longs. I don't
beleive that I have seen any discussion of this group on this board
or related boards. I remember hearing the song "Wheels" as a kid
(although I didn't know that was the name of the song) and had no
idea that it was this group that put it on the charts. They did some
surfy/Shadow sounding stuff and being from Texas, had some Texmex
flavor to their sound. There is a greatest hits CD available and here
is a webpage for anyone interested in reading about them.
I was happy to hear the song "Wheels", I had forgotten about it.
They did a great cover of "Walk Don't Run" and "Perfidia" among
others. Myself being in Oklahoma, I thought it was great having some
instrumental history just south of here.
