chord progressions-Phantom Surfers

r fraser (windmillsg2000) - 02 Jul 2003 20:51:15

Can anyone lend a tin ear a hand. There are 2 tunes on the Phantoms Surfers
"Surf crash of ' 97" cd
the cat came back - this has a descending chord progression e.g. A-G-F-E for the
verse but in the 2nd line of the chorus there is an ascending progression. I'm
stumped, does anyone know?
The other one is " I call my baby DDT" - again this is straight forward but does
the verse go I - III or I- IV or what?
Perhaps the 'verb is throwing me off
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

It sounds to me like the rhythm section is always doing the
descending part but the lead guitar occasionally does an ascending
run.

I play this:
E G A E A G E
E G A E A G B A
etc

Its funny this is one of the first "Surf CDs" that I got. Still its
pretty damn fun. I remember learning Buy High, Sell Low and being
pretty proud of myself a few years ago.
"I've got Ants in my pants!!!!"
Plus singing "Yozora No Hoshi" in Japanese was pretty cool, even if
it was done phonetically.
Plus that whole X-Files song:
"Subject: Billy Barty; a human composed entirely of white dwarf
matter"
"The Dog Star, are you Sirrius?"
"The artist formerly known as Gomer...the artist formerly known as
Goober; together they are the X-Pyles"
A surf song with a reference to The Ropers...oh man...
:)
