The MiGs
-- bio --
The MiGs Bio ---------------------------
The MiGs are a full-tilt surf-influenced instrumental band. Founded in 1999
by Los Angeles guitar slinger (and surfer) Bernard Yin, the band has
experimented with various styles; somehow always returning to something "surfy".
Imagine
hints of traditional surf music infused with a hard-driving modern edge woven
with psychedelic and experimental elements, then you might be hearing The
MiGs. To many who hear them this is the future sound of surf music. Their music
is currently being featured on MTVs Surf Girls program and has been placed in
numerous tv shows and films.
Each member of the band has earned serious wings working with numerous known
bands. Bernard arrived in LA years ago after cutting his teeth in the San
Diego music scene. This was with one of the only unsigned bands to play an LA
Lollapalooza date: Samba Hell. Relocating to LA, he has since been in numerous
bands. For example, he toured as the guitarist with Medicine opening for such
acts as the Smashing Pumpkins. Later involvements such as Spindle, Permanent
Green Light, the Glitter Panthers, Sex With Lurch, Lucie Gamelon, Jason Yates
and
most recently the legendary El Vez have further served as a testimony to his
versatility. The MiGs represent Bernard's current "vanity project". The goal
being the hottest surf influenced instrumental guitar band around! Bandmate
Jimmy Paxson (drums) has worked with an interesting variety as well. These
ranging from Ronnie Montrose to Alanis Morissette. Jamie Danesh on bass was the
founding bassist of IM A Robot and does sessions in LA.
