Adam:
dude, definately a reverb unit...it will get you totally
stoked with surf-verb. A tremolo effect would be cool.
Why don't you keep your Fat Cat Strat and your Kent and
dump the Ibanez.
You might want to add a Wah-Wah pedal...that would be a
cool sound with reverb and tremolo.
good luck,

Personally, I think the Fender Reverb Unit plus Hot Rod DeVille sounds
great.
I've got no experience with those pedals you mention, but I think the
consensus here is "nuthin' beats the stand alone reverb unit". Your Strat is
fine, although some may say single coils are more preferred than humbuckers
(thats whats on a Fat Strat, right?).
I think its great that a 15 year old is interested in surf, BTW.
Good luck,

Definitely get the outboard Fender reverb unit. I've
had the Holy Grail and have tried the Spring King, but
nothing beats an outboard unit. I would also think it
would sound good through your Hot Rod Deville. If
you're prioritizing, I would spend the money on the
reverb unit first, since you already have a strat.
You don't have to use the bridge humbucker if you
don't think it sounds good, but I play my Jagmaster
with the humbuckers more than my Cyclone with the
Jaguar pickups.

Hi,
Yep, defenitely an outboard tube reverb, the Holy grail is cool, but it
only delivers nice (IMHO) on low vol settings, like for home practising.
But none of the mentioned pedals beat the real thing. I tried the spring
king and albiet a nice design I was not that impressed by it. Consider
yourselves lucky, you can get the real thing for a mere 300 $ while the
damn thing is listed here at a huge +/- 800 Euro (some 840$)....this is
strange since for instance a Spring king has the same price here as in
the U.S. and so does the Holy Grail. I guess it's a Fender thing....
The Deville sounds good to my ears, and I'm sure you will be impressed
by when couple it onto a Fender Tube reverb.
