It came today, wrapped in a huge new cardboard box: my 1960 Premier
Twin 12 amp...I unpacked it, but the rusty old swingin' casters on the
bottom, and plugged it in with great fear and trepidation. And, lo and
behold, it worked.
This amp sings with amazing tone...the bass is bottomless and shakes
my walls without being flabby. It has a milkshake-thick mid and a very
chimey treble. Hooked up to the Fender 'Verb tank, it has that
authentic tone of the first wave bands. The original 12" AlNiCo Jensen
P12Ps sound great...no voice coil rubs, no tears. Awesome!
In a phrase, I am in tone heaven, fellas!
I am taking it it to have it checked by my amp guru, who is putting a
new 3-prong power cable and fixing the power switch (it has a standby,
but is always on). Anyway, I wish you could all play through it, it's
amazing. Every bit as genuine and rich with clean headroom as any
Fender I've heard, and frankly better than the reissue DRRI, which is
a favorite of mine. It comes closest to the reissue Vibrolux.
This amp is not terribly loud, but that may be due to the 6V6 tubes
that have taken the place of the original 75XX power tubes. I am
having my tech look at putting those back in the amp.
This is a rare amp, but I'm telling you, these ol' Premier Twin 12s
had a lot of Mojo!
Gavin
Wow! Congrats Gavin - very sweet, indeed!
Enjoy it!

Aw man...I'm totally envious...
you are one fortunate dude!
I am happy to here that the amp is finally in the hands of
one so appreciative...
Imagine if it ended up in the wrong hands and someone took
the liberty to modify it so that it had that great marshal
crunch, or what if they tried to do that one mod just like
their cousin's Mesa...
Man, I'm still envious...
