I just want to pass along my good experience with JJ tubes. I bought a full
set for my Showman based upon Mel Waldorf's advice. They sound great there,
but I couldn't judge before/after because the Showman was in bad shape when
I got it. I have decided to sell my Hot Rod DeVille, and bought a set of JJ
6L6GC power tubes to replace the stock set since one of them rattles pretty
badly. I just got them a few days ago, put them in, and rebiased. Wow!! I
was not expecting the difference. The amp is now full of life and very
dynamic. Loud and clean. Now I'm no gigging musician, nor a tube
connoisseur; but IMHO these sound great. Maybe its because the orignal tubes
sounded bad, or the JJ's are great, or somewhere in between. In any event,
I'm a happy camper.
