As I mentioned to Brian, I had a visceral reaction to the news of
Scott Rogers' (aka Rip Thrillby) death. I had the "Kings of the High
Speed Weekend" Penetrators CD from a big ol' collection I bought on
EBay and absolutely loved that CD. I counted it as one of my biggest
"finds" in this collection of first-, second- and third-wave bands. I
thought the whole thing, the characters and the covers and the
cartoons and the spy theme, were brilliant. And the music was worth
playing over and over.
It's really something that we all share a passion for this music and
feel a connection, even to people we haven't ever met. My heart goes
out to the Rogers' family in their time of grief.
Take a Penetrators CD for a spin, and marvel at Rip's brilliance. If
there's a rock'n'roll heaven, the resident surf band has a rockin'
good rythym player.
