>I'm sorry to deliver this news in e mail but I just don't have
>everyone's phone number and some of you were on mass e mails that Scott
>sent out whom I don't even know but I assume are Scott's friend. Some of
>you I have talked to and I hate to deliver it twice. There are plenty
>more friends on atomoculture and reverborama whose e mails I don't have
>either so I'm sending it there too.
>
>Last night, our friend Scott Rogers, aka Rip Thrillby, was in a car
>accident and was killed. He was the passenger in a 63 Ford Galaxie and
>was thrown from the car(he would want you to know he wasn't in a Honda
>or lessor vehicle(grin)). I've known the driver for a long time and have
>NEVER seen him drunk so I do not suspect DUI. Apparently he simply fell
>asleep.
>
>Scott was a born again Christian and was baptized just a few years ago.
>We know he's in a much better place.
>
>I know many of you will be praying for us and I'd like to go ahead and
>say thanks in advance and ask that you join our family to also pray for
>the driver who is banged up and obviously grieving with the rest of us.
>
>No funeral arrangements have been set yet, but I can send details as
>they develop if you like.
>
>Scott often used the quote "May you live in interesting times." He lived
>an interesting life and sucked all the marrow out of life he could. From
>being an Airborne soldier in the first gulf war to fronting one of the
>best surf bands in the "3rd" wave, not to mention being a hell of a son,
>brother, Uncle, friend and Man.
>
>As just a brief example of the kind of guy Scott was, after we played
>our last Penetrators show in March, he wouldn't accept his share of the
>money. He told me I needed to take it and put it in a mutual fund to
>make sure my daughters were being taken care of for the future and for
>college.
>
>Knowing Scott as well as I did, I know he would not want anybody
>wallowing in sorrow. He had a remarkable way of staring down bad
>situations and finding the positive message in them. Anybody that
>received his e mail after his GTO was totaled by an SUV knows that. If
>there is one in here, it's to cherish your life and your loved ones.
>Don't ever take them for granted (which we did not) and always pray for
>them (which we did).
>
>His Memory and his Music will live on as he does now in Heaven.
>
>Again, I hate to deliver this news by e mail, but those of us who knew
>him best knew that e mail was about the only way to get a hold of him,
>so maybe it's fitting. I hope you don't mind Scott.
>
>You were a remarkable guy and you will never be forgotten.

Rip,
I will always remeber you as you were the last time I hung out with you...
Sitting at the bar next to Dusty at the Clairmont Lounge.
We will miss you. Our hearts go out to your family. This is a very sad day.
Chris
