I have an old fender bassman blackface that I want to hot rod. any
suggestions on what to do. where to bring it in the san jose cali.

if it was me and I was going to spend money with a tech having a
bassman head modified, I would have it wired to "white knob bassman
with a rectifier tube" specs - there is a specific fender circuit
number like "6G6-A" (in fact that may be it) - this is a wonderful amp
that if you put with a reverb tank and a JBL cabinet you will be
berry, berry happy. if you want to find a good amp tech in San Jose,
go to then discussion forums/guitar
amps, then general discussions. there are good guys there and will
give you some leads on techs in Silly Cone Valley.
I'm not sure what you mean by "Hot Rod" - but you might check out
Marshall Valve State amps on eBay, I think they are pretty cheap and
may give you your Hot Rod fix in a very cost effective way.
