Gavin's Guitars: The Intermediate's Surf Guitar Set.

Gavin Ehringer (windanseabeachboy) - 02 May 2003 18:55:50

Posted a picture of my rig in the "Guitars" folder (seemed
appropriate). If anyone cares, here's the lineup:
'81 Aria TA-70 (a Gibson ES 335 Clone) a very nice guitar for Blues.
'96 Fender Jaguar, MIJ, CAR w/matching headstock, red tortoise
pickguard, flat-wound lls, and wild Jaguar shoulder strap. Yow!
'02 Line 6 Variax, a great acoustic sound (really!), and some nice
modeling of some classic guitars. Best sounds for surf: the Gretsch
Silverjet, the '59 Fender Strat, Danelectro 3021, and the Martin D-28
acoustic. Note the custom surf leash shoulder strap!
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, 40w rms, w/custom two-tone brown & black tolex
and white piping, custom grille cloth, Weber Cali 12 ceramic mag
speaker, Ei 12AX7 preamp tubes.
Ibanex Acoustic 15w practice/monitor amp.
Fender '63 Reverb Reissue w/cap mod, NOS 6V6 RCA power tube.
Surf board: Hobie 7'6" Dolphin Tri-Fin w/FCS fins, by Stewart Surfboards.
Not a bad quiver of arrows for an intermediate player! Total cost:
about $2,200. (Surfboard not included).

Very cool Gavin!
I moved it to the "My Rig" folder...I was hoping that would be the
place list members could post photos of their gear.
Did you also replace the knobs on the Jag?

Yeah, new knobs on the Jag...the chromes came off the Variax, which
were replaced with dice. I like the chromes better than the Jag
originals. Also, the Aria is signed by Eric Johnson!
Gavin
P.S. Hope to see other folks' rigs too!
