Saturday May 3rd
Phyllis' Musical Inn
1800 West Divison
Mid-Coast Surfers Stomp, The inaugural event which lead a tidal wave of
new
and old surf music lovers into reverb soaked frenzy, is back by popular
demand. Due to the large turnout at the first Mid-Coast surfers stomp,
Tiki
Hut productions has been asked to do it again. Surf music fans,
rockabilly
rebels and tiki enthusiasts will converge Saturday May 3rd for this Big
Kahuna of an event, featuring Cocktail Preachers, Von Rippers and the
Heavies at Phyllis Musical Inn 1800 W. Division St, Chicago
773-486-9862.
As the last surfers stomp brought together bands from all over the
Midwest, this one will concentrate on Chicago's local surf scene.
Opening
the show will be new local hero's the Heavies. Hailing from Northwest
Indiana these southside instrumentalists keep it true to the Ventures
sound
with a blistering two guitar surf attack. Also, on the bill is
Wheeling's own, Von
Rippers, sporting a very classic surf sound. Dubbed as a rising star on
the revitalized surf scene, their recent appearance on Golly Gee records
compilation "Modern Band Spotlight" has landed them a possible part of
the soundtrack
for FOX Sports X-treme games show. Headlining the show is once again
Chicago's
own Cocktail Preachers. The Preachers bring a fresh approach to the
traditional California surf sound. Spending the early part of summer
'02
honing their chops and battling tasty waves on a west-coast tour, this
summer shows them bringing it back home and spreading the good word
around.
Providing some Tiki decor for this event will be local tiki artist Dave
Krys. Dave has worked with LA's infamous Shag and recently designed the
Rock-A-Tiki nightclub in Chicago.
So, kick-start the summer a little earlier with the Mid-Coast Surfers
Stomp
at Phyllis' Musical Inn on Saturday May 3rd, show starts at 9:00. Don't
be late!
