In case anyone's interested.. Here's a picture of my rig - and a nice
beauty-shot of my strat.
stats:
Fender 25r amp (2-channel, 25 watts, buit in reverb tank)
Premier 90 external reverb unit
Dan-O pedal case with five mini pedals
(left to right, Flanger, grilled cheese dist, t-bone dist, black metal
dist, compressor)
Guitar: stone-stock Y2k American Strat, trem bridge, all-maple neck,
chrome blue paint, matching metallic blue strap.
Bass: Year Unknown, Squier Jazz Bass. Maple neck, rosewood fretboard,
Metalflake blue paint, matching blue nylon strap.
not pictured: 2001 Squier strat. (currently in pieces, being rebuilt)
With this configuration I can switch from Surf, to blues, to rock and
metal on a whim. I usually use the amp's "clean" channel, but I
sometimes like to crank up the drive channel and bash out a few power
chords, too.
It's probably not as nice as the professional rigs owned by the working
members of the group, but I thought maybe the other beginners (like
myself) might find it interesting.
cheers, gang.

Hey...yeah...I setup the list so that attachments are not allowed (virii
anyone?).
Just upload your photo to the photos area at:
You have to sign in first, blah blah blah.
If you need help just ask.

PS: Wow...it looks DP has been busy uploading photos since the last time I
checked. Thanks DP!

Done and done... Just look for a directory called "My Rig"..

Mr c* has a great idea. Take a photo of your rig and upload into that
folder. Make sure you put your name in the photo caption. It would be cool
to see everyone's stuff.
Maybe we should make a "Who's Who" folder too to upload a photo of yourself
holding your favorite instrument. We can put some faces with the names here.

And I found there... the Variax. Do you like it? No whammy!

The Variax...it's a lot of fun. Some of the sounds are really, really
good, but it is really important to have the right amp. i.e. if you
want the Martin D-28 to sound right, you have to run it through an
acoustic amp or PA, not your Fender tube amp.
No whammy on the Variax...someone is gonna have to design some sort of
bar-actuated pitch shifter to get a whammy effect, 'cause the Baggs
piexo pickup on this guitar won't stand for strings sliding back and
forth!
The Jag is there for the whammy playing. None of these guitars is my
"No. 1," each has its place in the music I am playing.
