Administrative Message: Bouncing Members and Spam

Brian Neal (xarxas) - 14 Apr 2003 19:07:54

I just noticed there are 32 members on this list that Yahoo
considers "bouncing members": all email sent to them is undeliverable
for various reasons (email address is dead, mailbox full, etc). So
I'll give a couple days advance warning for them to fix this (just in
case anyone in that category is still reading messages via the web
interface). After that I'll nuke any bouncing members, say sometime
next weekend. I don't think this will cause anyone any problems, a
lot of these people haven't gotten email delivered in over a
year....but there is always someone who will complain.
Take a moment to review your settings by visiting:
and then click on the "Edit My Membership". I also suggest
setting "Do not convert to HTML" so you will stop getting annoying
HTML web ads in your emails.
Another smart thing to do while you are at it, is to click
the "Account Info" link from that above page. Then drill into the
options and find the "Edit My Marketing Preferences". Yahoo
conveniently turns on every single spam enabling marketing option for
you. You have to explicitly go in and decline them all. But hey what
do you want for free, right?
If you got any questions email me off list. Please don't publicly
reply to this message.
Thanks,
BN
