Dano Silvertone on eBay

Marty Golia (mdg14450) - 13 Apr 2003 14:01:15

Is it me, or does the price on this seem a little excessive?
Of course, since the two high bidders have 0 feedback, I'd be surprised if the
deal goes through.

Wow! I saw an original one of these recently in an antique store for
$225 - with the amp in case. And it all worked! Sure, it was beat but
there was no repaint or anything. I thought the neck sucked and the
tuning gears were awful, so I passed it by.
Stupid me! Coulda made my tax payment with an eBay sale!
Yes, the price is way, way out of line.

Wow... I bought one of these on Ebay a while back for $180 with the
Amp-In-Case. It had a pretty cheap re-finish, and yeah the tuners
were pretty shoddy (but hold the tune just fine). But the amp did
have the ORIGINAL Silvertone tubes, all in perfect working order, nad
the owner replaced the speaker with a NOS one, so I didn't feel
cheated. They're actually pretty nice sounding axes for the price,
and I used mine to record the rhythm track on "Poor Jerusalem" for
the Jesus Christ Surferstar comp.
This HAS to be some kind of oversight. How can you not look at
the "confirm bid" screen? I mean... there's no possible way ANYONE
could think that guitar is worth much of anything. Maybe I can
unload mine for 4 grand if I market the tube angle right.
