Fender Jazz Bass with a Reissue Reverb?

monkeybooger9 - 11 Apr 2003 00:09:33

I was wondering what would happen if I ran my Mexican Jazz bass
through my Fender reissue reverb tank? Would I screw anything up? I
haven't tried it yet, and I don't know a whole lot about guitars. So
if anyone could help me out, that'd be awesome. Also if anyone has
any suggestions about what replacement pickups are the best for a
Stratocaster to get the full surf sound, that would be greatly
appreciated also. I am interested in switching my Mexican Standard
ones out for some higher quality pickups. Thanks

Hi,
Hmmm, not much I supose, the tank wouldn't be damaged, since it can take
a bass as well. But you woul end up with a pretty muddy bass sound.
Since the tank a kind of accentuates the high tones and ends.
If I'm correct, Seymour Duncan has "Surf pups?" for stratocaster or
something simelar. I read about those somewhere, but I can't remember
where....
Anyway, check seymourduncan.com.
But I'm sure there are other vintage sounding Pu's out there for a
strat.

Seymour Duncan is always a good place to look for
pickups and there are always the Fender American
Vintage series stuff. They'll cost you about as much
as any other aftermarket pickup and may come about as
close to what you're looking for as anything you can
get.
As for running your bass through your tank, Jerry is
right: mud. It won't hurt anything, you'll just
wonder after hearing it why you did it.
