Looking for a Surf Band

sixage - 02 Apr 2003 11:41:16

My name is Jeff Barber, I am a Programs Manager at the Autry Museum of
Western Heritage. I booked the Deoras for a show here on Sunday,
April 27, however, they have notified me that their European tour
manager gave them the wrong dates for the tour and they are no longer
available on April 27. I am looking for a surf band that is as
popular as the Deoras, maybe more so, that would be available on April
27 and would play for $500. Does anyone out there have any thoughts
about a band in Southern California that would fit this bill?
Thanks! Jeff

Jeff:
slacktone is always good,... Dusty (from Dick Dale) is
their drummer. Maybe playin with both DD and slacktone on
one bill might kill him!
The Blue Hawaiians are exceptional, however I am not sure
they are still gigging...and like I said, they may be
difficult to track down.
The Red Elvises are totally fun, they may be out of town
right now.
The Phantom Surfers are outstanding, but like the Blue
Hawaiians, I am not sure how to track them down.
The Chantays and the Lively Ones are always fun bands to
watch. The Tornadoes sax-man, Joel, is an original member
of the Lively Ones...one of the Lively Ones (bass guy)
lives in Texas, so it might be hard to get them. The
Chantays are still in Orange county, they should be
relatively easy to track down.
I forgot Paul Johnson (The Belairs), he is in Orange County
and I bet you could track him down easily, and I bet he'd
show up at your gig...but then again he's in the Duo-tones
with Gil from the Chantays...right? You already got them.
( and ).
Well, I'm not sure this info helps much, but I wish you
luck...

How about the Eliminators from Orange County?
()
Or Richard Cheese might be a cool change of pace...not
really surf music, but rather crazy lounge music.
