LECTURE
Life at the Beach
7:00 9:00 p.m., Heritage Court
Beach culture began in Europes North Sea in the eighteenth century
and has moved steadily westward and southward ever since. What began as
a movement of the ill seeking relief at the seaside has become a major
tourist destination in our time. Listen to Roy Ritchie, director of
research at the Huntington Library, describe how much life has changed
at the beach, and what aspects have remained the same. A reception will
follow the talk. For more information and reservations, call
323.667.2000, ext. 354.
