Hey again,
Does anyone have any opinions on The Insect Surfers? How "surfy" are they?
Thanks,
BN

The few tunes I heard are good. I hear they have a more psychadelic
edge now. Lots of the people who like the Mermen, and Pollo seem to
be big fans.

Hi Brian,
I think the Insect surfers are pretty surfy. Heck their tunes like
"Bouzouki" "Pleasure point" "Stingray"
It's surf with a nice bite to it. I really like them a lot.

I'd agree with most people on the list that the Insect Surfers fall
into the "Prog Surf" category. They do a really cool mix of Surf
with influences of rock, middle eastern, etc. Hell, I give them
props, if nothing else, for the fact that they use both a flying-V
and an SG to play surf.
I own all 3 CDs, and enjoy each, so I MUST think they're doing
something right.

-Brian,Brian,Brian,
I'll admit that on the drip factor they are down tha scale on that.
But you have got to give them a chance and check out all 3 of their
cd's. The Playing by everyone in the band is superb. They cover
Spaghetti western style/Link Wray/Middle eastern, just fast blazing
leades and shredding rhythms sometimes. The do dabble in a bit of
Phsychedelic realm, but don't think Greatful Dead or shit like that.
More in the atmospheric sense of some of Floyds earlier work. But I
Love Pink Floyd, and wouldn't consider the Insects anywhere near
them in style. Insect Surfers are music for surfing the dessert
plains.

p.s. they were the first surf band I saw, so they hold a special
place in my collection and list of bands I see.
