Surf Tab

Phil Kucer - 02 Nov 2001 18:14:31

Since this group is mainly about PLAYING surf music, I was wondering if
anyone had a good resource for tab. Not only guitar but bass as well. I was
thinking about putting together a web page of all the surf tab I can find.
Any ideas?

Check out the Bookmarks link when you visit the web interface for
this list. I have started some links there. I have a Man or Astro-
Man? tab page and Johnny Dehann has a great 1st wave tab page.
Goto
and click on the Bookmarks link on the left side of the page.
Also, please note that we can upload files (tabs?), photos, start
polls, and mark gigs and events on a calendar from this page.
I encourage everyone to try these features out. Please go ahead and
add links, files, photos, etc!!!
You probably have to have a Yahoo! ID to use these features, and it
looks like all but one member has one. If you need help, email me.
Have fun!

i have a lot of different surf tabs i got from the internet and some that I
tabbed out myself. problem with them is that they are somewhat inaccurate. i
can compile a list of everything i have and post it here.

Speaking of surf tab, does anyone have any song they want tabbed?
I characterize myself as an intermediate guitar player and find that
by sitting down and trying to tab stuff out that I am developing my
listening skills. I'll take a stab at a song for you...no promises,
but between all the experts on this list, hopefully we can get
something figured out. We can upload the tab to the files section for
this list.
I also started using CoolEdit 2000, a windoze program for playing
with sound. I bought the 4 track recording module and its great for
practicing and making simple demos. But the great part for helping
out with tab is that it can slow down songs without changing the
pitch! Its not perfect, but if you sample at a high enough rate and
are patient it does a pretty good job. That program has really helped
me develop my ear.

I have a couple of Ventures tabs on my planktone page
( ) and will probably add more when I am
through with my current projects.

Once you can get your guitar midi-ised, there is no more usefull tool for
creating tabs than www.tabledit.com

Hey Marty...can you explain what is involved in MIDI-izing your
guitar and what you can do with it once its done?
Thanks for sharing your experiences with the Reverb Unit reissue too.
I haven't had a chance to A/B like you have, so I'll probably keep it
the way it is until then...or a tube burns out.

There are probably charper ways to MIDI-ize yer gut bucket but the way I did
was just to by a Roland guitar synth. The latest Roland Synth goes for under
600 clams but then you need the slap-on pick-up and I don't know what those
cost nowadays, probably 150 or so. The Roland synth has a midi send. You will
need an adapter that allows you to plug the send into the din connector on
the sound card. That's about it.
