May 2006 issue of TLM now posted

Dick Stewart (rvstewartproductions) - 01 May 2006 10:35:09

Compadres,
The May 2006 issue of "The Lance Monthly" has been
posted and can be found on
IN THIS ISSUE: Up Close with Powell St. John (Standout
musician during the Austin music scene – Interview
conducted by Mike Dugo); Up Close with Peter Rechter
(Second-Half Interview with a Major Contributor to
Australia’s ‘60s Music Scene – Interview conducted by
Beverly Paterson); Paterson’s Jump, Jive, and
Harmonize (Strawberry Alarm Clock Reviews);
Hannaleck’s Lance Album Pick of the Month (“Whips and
Roses” Tommy Bolin)
[Staff Writer, Mike Dugo notes: Powell St. John was an
important musician in the 1960’s Austin music scene.
Because of his association with the 13th Floor
Elevators, however, his name has become virtually
synonymous with the legendary psychedelic innovators.
Although he was never a member of Roky Erickson and
Co., he did write several songs that the group
recorded. After leaving Austin for San Francisco to
follow friend and lover Janis Joplin (he was a member
of the Waller Creek Boys), St. John formed Mother
Earth, another popular rock combo that released
several LPs in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. He was
inducted into the Texas Music Hall of fame in 2005.]
