obviously fender offers a new bass guitar called jaguar.
two models black and hot rod red. wow, looks cool to me, at least the red one.
is it new or am i late? primarily as a guitarist im stumbeld over this new one
due to its name.
i like the bass guitar from flea rhcp in creme white. i guess its a mustang
bass.
does anyone know more about the new model?

Fairly new. On allocation at most distributors/stores. Runs about $699
at retail. Has a Jazz Bass feel and tone to it. Needs hot-rodding.
I've been looking into it myself.

Our bass player just got one of these last month from Japan...his is
a very nice sunburst, Fender Japan really knows how to do sunburst
right! It also has active electronics, which you can control from
the top control panel that is on all Jazzmasters and Jags.
At first I was not so sure about this bass, seeing as Pete(our bass
player)has a number of nice vintage P-basses...BUT, I really enjoy it
now that his has dialed it properly.
It can be very punchy AND warm...kinda like a jazz bass, but it cuts
thru nicely when we are going full blast!
I say get one!

How timely ! I'm looking to get a bass right at the moment myself.
Any other ideas on what's good ? I¡¯m just a guy who¡¯s knocks out a
few tunes on the weekend with his buddies but I dont want something
cheap that sounds like a fart in a bottle either.
Any other suggestions ?

If you want a good deal, get a used Mexican Standard
Fender Precision or Jazz bass. They're a pretty good
deal new too, I think around $439 now.
