It all depends on how you use it. See my page...
There are pinheads there and real bands there, fans and
bottom trollers. Choose "friends" from among bands and
known punters and it's one more channel for promotion. You
also can post up to 4 mp3 files to illustrtate your band's
sound.
There are LOTS of surfbands there.

I'm with Phil on this one
I set up a profile page - www.myspace.com/unsteadyfreddie
and frankly I am overwhlemed at the reponse I have been getting
every day so many people clicking on me wishing to be added as a 'friend' I
can hardly keep pace with it
it has been very helpful to me in promoting my
(a) once-a-month SURF-ROCK SHINDIG at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD in NYC; people
come up to me at the show to introduce themselves as having 'met' me thru
MySpace
and
(b) a new internet radio show I started with DAN COLEMAN - playing only
ORIGINAL MUSIC from MySpace artists - no covers; the show is called YourSpace
Radio, and be accessed in 2 places -- www.yourspaceradio.com,
www.myrealtalent.com
the new show is getting a tremendous response; in fact we started it as a 1/2
show, might have to go to 1 hour
I have put out 'bulletins' and sent 'messages' to artists asking for their
music to be considered for the show; every day a bunch of packages arrive; and
my email is flooded with mp3's -- I am overwhelmed by it, truly
though I play all genres on YourSpace Radio, I won't forget my 'roots' - every
show has gotta have a 'surf' tune...that's the deal! so check it out!
and like Phil alluded, there are an amazing amount of surf artists I have
never heard of within the confines of MySpace
I think it's a killer promotional/networking/marketing device
I get the sense many artists use MySpace as their only website?
kinda like giving up your land-line for a cellular?
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT
