Zone Fighter (zonefighter) - 05 Apr 2006 08:58:19

My (non-surf) band has a MySpace page.
MySpace seems to be a good place to make "Friends" with your local
scary "I really dig your band" guys and hot (and not so hot) chicks
from all over the world who have web pages where they get naked for
money. I've also been contacted by teenage band managers who have
their bands passing through my town on tour and need a place to sleep.
My daughter thinks it is cool though, it means we are almost as famous
as Fall Out Boy to her & her friends. I guess they don't realize you
can just put the band page yourself... ;-)

It all depends on how you use it. See my page...
There are pinheads there and real bands there, fans and
bottom trollers. Choose "friends" from among bands and
known punters and it's one more channel for promotion. You
also can post up to 4 mp3 files to illustrtate your band's
sound.
There are LOTS of surfbands there.

I agree with Phil, it's all in what you do with your
myspace. I have found some very cool bands/musicians on
myspace. Additionally, a few thousand people in this world
have given my little mp3s a spin....not bad for a mojave

I agree DP. One needs to be active with the profile to make it work.

thought I'd chime in again on this
with over 6400 'friends' or thereabouts, I am amazed at the amount
of 'messages' I get in my 'inbox', and the 'comments' that get
posted daily
it takes a lot of time, and effort, to 'stay current'
see, if someone is reaching out to me, I feel that I should return
the favor
I started a new internet radio show, called YourSpace Radio, done 1
show a week for 5 weeks; the response is kinda scary overwhelming;
I open my Yahoo email, and artists are flooding me with mp3's for
consideration for airplay; I only play original tunes by MySpace
artists; and I answer each and every one of them as well; the show
includes surf/twang (throw in rockabilly, psychobilly too)....so
Surf Guitar 101'ers will enjoy it as well
check my scary profile, www.myspace.com/unsteadyfreddie
access YourSpace radio here:

Seems like a nice way to get on the internet. Free and easy. At least
you have a site you can point people to if they ask. Ours is a work in
progress - its:
