Re: Meshugga Beach Party Reviewed in Guitar Player!// Question for Mel

Jeff (bigtikidude) - 27 Feb 2006 10:38:52

I just picked up the new version of this at Amoeba records last week.
I forgot how much I liked this when it came out a few years ago.
I was pretty suprised to see it. They still have one more copy if
anyone is looking for it in the LA area.
I may not be paying close enough attention, But what are the
4 new songs?
Did you re-record any of the old songs?
Did it get remastered at all?

Jeff,
Glad you like the new CD. The new songs on the disc are "Driedl, Driedl"
"At the Rabbi's Table" "Artsa Alinu" and "Shalom Haverim" I didn't
re-record any of the old songs, but I tried to match the recording technique
on the new material as closely as possible to the original recordings. Then
I had the whole thing remastered to try to give as consistent a sound as
possible.
On the topic of new songs, we're adding songs to the live set. So far,
we're considering Dark Eyes, And the Angels Sing, Jezebel, Exodus, Star of
David as well as some traditional klezmer songs and of course, some tracks
from Fiddler on the Roof. Any other songs you think would be good for
Meshugga Beach Party?
Mel

Mel,
That's funny that you mentioned Fiddler on the roof.
I was gonna mention that maybe you do a few of those songs, but
thought that might be too Kitchy(is that the word I mean)?
So I decided not to say anything about it. But then you say you are,
too ironic.
So does that mean you are going to be the "Surf Guitarist on the
Roof"?
don't fall off, Tradition!!!!
