Anybody try out one of the Traynor Custom Valve amps? A buddy of mine
has one of the 20 watters in wine red...it's a screamer. While the dirty
channels were ok, I spent most of the opportunity messing with the clean
channel, which has some very nice, but not too much, breakup. All I
could think of was how badass this lil monster would be with my reverb
tank (the onboard reverb is very useable, though, but with some outboard
'drip?' No contest...)
So I'm toying with the idea of getting one, probably a 40W model...but
I'm thinking of getting a baffle made for a 15" JBL (or clone thereof)
and switching it out. Then again, the amp sounds pretty good as is, but
a 40W Vox-voiced amp with a 15 sounds awful tempting...
I know Traynor's not the 1st thing that comes to mind when talking amps
for surf, but I highly recommend giving one of these a try.
