Fiber in Fender cabs.

Jerry Belgacom.Net (wipeoutboy63) - 17 Feb 2006 16:32:03

Hi,
It seams fiber was around in the "Leo erea. As I found fiber in a "64
tremolux cab, bassman and Bandmaster cabs, so I suppose it also came in
Showman cabs. It's like regular "rockwool"
I have used it in a DIY single 15"(repro Fender cab) and it made the closed
back cab resonate less, which I think is the main reason Fender used
Fiberglass.
I did not improve tone (at least not on my repro cab, just helped to get rid
of the rather nasty resonation the cab suffered from)
It also seams to help "project" the speaker sound in closed back cabs.
Hey there,
Here's a sound/tech question:
Does anyone know if Fiberglass in Fender cabs(bassman, bandmaster, or other
piggy-backs)help as far as tone is concerned?
I know it is supposed to kill "standing waves", but does it help tone?
AND, how many Fender cabs came stuffed with fiberglass?
Is it a CBS thing?
Did Leo design it that way from the start??
Any thoughts on this would be welcomed.
Lewis
