Bob Irwin is a god to audiophiles like myself.

For the most part, these releases will be the first time
from studio masters for much of this material. Earlier
issues mostly used album masters or safety copies
(generations down from studio tapes), and in some cases,
vinyl. The audio should be vastly improved, especially
given Bob Irwin's exceptional talent at remastering sixties
material. Ya-hoo!

This is great news! I actually have all that stuff on CD
already, so
I'll have to think about whether I want it again. However,
I should
point out that the Hondells' Surf Route 101 is chock full
of Podolor
instrumentals (about half the album), as well, and some
really good
ones. The original version of Midnight Run is on this CD,
for
example. Oh, and that's actually Podolor sitting in the
back seat of
the car on the front cover! The only known photo of him?
The other
two Hondells albums only have a couple instros, and only
one of those
albums has Podolor on it. But Surf Route 101 is a must
have!

AVI went out of business, so all of those releases are "out of print" and
now up for grabs.
Maybe we'll see them all get re-released someday on other labels. Yeah, right!
