I've noticed some MIJ Jaguars say "Made in Japan" and some
say "Crafted in Japan." Is either an indication of better quality?
Would I be better off saving up for an American Jag reissue? Thanks,
Nick
No, I think it has something to do with the serial
numbers...and at some point they decided that
"Crafted" sounded better than "Made." Go figure.
There are minor differences because of different
production runs and years, but as far as I know
they're still pretty much the same thing.

Hi,
Nope, they are the same guitars, MIJ is an older term used "Made In
Japan" someone just taught "Crafted looked cooler, so the newer editions
have CIJ on them.
Anyway, the MIJ/CIJ Jaguars and Jazzmasters made for export are in
Basswood, while the ones sold by Ishibashi Japan are actually in Alder.
Check out "fenderforum.com" and go to the Jaguar and Jazzmaster forum,
these guys tell you all you wanna know.
