My Rotosound purples arrived today & I decided to install them in my
"super deluxe" Fender Squire Strat. The purples are heaviers than the
strings I had on it. I removed & then reinstalled 1 string at a time.
When tuning after all the strings were installed, I noticed the bridge
lifting up more than normal. As I would get one string in tune, the
rest would go out of tune. I opened the plate in the back. I only have
3 springs. Should I have more? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Hey - you should probably go to a guitar tech and get another setup
for your heavier gauge strings.
If you wanna go at it yourself, you can tighten the springs in the
cavity. There should be a screw or screws that will bring the claw
that anchors the springs closer to the body.
You may also want to add a spring or two if you don't have much travel
in the claw.
You may also need to adjust your truss rod and adjust your action
(string height).
So again, if you aren't sure, go to a tech. Dan Erlewine has some good
books about guitar setup if you want to learn yourself.
Good luck.

Install more springs.
My backup guitar is a Squier Jagmaster which also has a strat style bridge.
I play a 56-15 string set and put 5 springs in to keep the bridge down
i.e. No float.
You may also need to adjust the neck to compensate for the larger strings.
