I've been jacking around with my reverb tank Trying to solve this
problem.I have this ringing going on , seems to happen most when I
hit an open B.I changed all the tubes but no help.Has anyone else had
this problem?Better yet, does anyone know how to cure the
problem?
A friend of mine just bought a Vibro King and I had a chance to play
through it today.Really good tone,good reverb,a bit
exspensive.Personal taste is the key to an amp.Play through the ones
you are interested in and the ones you can afford , then
decide.....Maui

It could be you're generating a harmonic vibration in the unit itself.
Try checking the reverb tank itself to see that everything's nailled
down properly and not vibrating where it shouldn't..
Only thing I can think of..

Had a similar problem with my 65 deluxe reverb re-ish. Here's the fix
,I have not looked inside the outboard reverb units so this may
not apply. I hope it helps
1. remove tank and bag from amp
2. cut a piece of corrageted cardboard the same size as bottom of tank
3. cover bottom of tank with the cardboard piece and wrap tank once
around with foam rubber (like carpet pad, etc.) and tape together
4. put tank assy back in bag without original cardboard base (if it
was there)and screw bag back into amp
best

I just disassebled my Reverb tank and my Fender Deluxe tube amp. (I'm
curious about how things work). I have a similar problem with my
Reverb tank (very shrill on the "B" and the "E" strings, overall harsh
high-end). Additionally, it has a lot of radio frequency interference,
which I've only been able to remedy by putting it in an aluminum-foil
lined box.
A few thoughts: I've learned to reduce some of the shrillness with
the judicious rebalancing of my controls, starting with the treble
setting on my guitar, the tone setting on the reverb unit (I set it at
"3", with dwell and mix at about 7 or 8), and the treble and presence
settings on my amp. When the mix is right, the shrillness can be cut
way down while not losing all the high-end shimmer.
I also diminished the problem somewhat by switching the power tube to
a N.O.S. Tung-Sol 6K6. You could try a similar tube, as well as try
replacing the 12AX7 tube on the front-end with a 12AT7, which is a
little less "hot." This is the same tube used on the output side of
the tube array.
If that fails, you might try the capacitor mod that everyone talks
about (search this site for comments, and check the Cowabunga! site
for an explanation of the cap mod). I don't trust myself with a
soldering iron and don't want to invalidate my warranty, but I do
think about doing this, just 'cause of my curiosity...
But before you do the cap mod, you might check with a Fender amp tech
at your local guitar shop...you may just have a lemon.
Good luck, mate!
Gavin
Since the reverb tank is suspended by springs (not on cardboard, as in
the amplifiers), the suggestion by Dan won't do you any good.
