Thanks for the encore spin of our version of "The
Disadvantages Of You".
I was an impressionable 11 yr-old when this song first
came out in 1967/1968, although not impressionable
enough to take up smoking as a lifelong habit. :-) For
anyone interested in a little nostalgia, a Real video

As befits a "longer" cigarette, this jingle was one of
the longer ones in its day--a lot longer than say,
"Stronger Than Dirt!" (Ajax, not Phil!). However, to
make it a longer and more interesting song, something
had to be done. So, musical Viagra to the rescue: The
Bridge.
The bridge in LBOP's "Disadvantages..." is a
harmonized scale progression in the key of C:
C/Dmin7/Emin7/F/G7. So, that's 5 chords there.
Composer Mitch Leigh included four add'l chords
outside the diatonic key (Ab, Bb, D, Eb) for total of
9 chords. Bottom line is that there's a fair amount of
activity happening in this approx. minute and a half
long track by The Lost Boys Of Penzance....
