Re: Poll "Musicians: What genres did you play prior ..."

How come "garage" isn't an option?! I wouldn't be surprised if many of
the better surf bands from the last 15 years came from a background
of '60s styled garage music.

Good point! I played garage before. I considered ticking "classic
rock", but here in the netherlands there's an FM radio station
called "classic rock" that specializes in foreigner, Yes, Heart, Rush
and what have you, so I opted for 'other'.

I had to settle for the "Other" option as well. And yeah, to my
knowledge "Classic Rock" isn't '60s garage/beat music but rather the
horrible heavy soft rock that started in the late '60s and continued
way into the '70s.

I wasn't gonna say anything, but what with Wannes and Klas
chiming in.... What if you started with surf - it was your
first experience with a guitar? 'Other' doesn't work for
that because it implies that you did play -something- prior
to playing surf guitar, and that'd be a lie. <g> And it
wouldn't matter when you started either, 1961 or 2001.
A 'None' option should be available.

I was always into garage rock, frat rock, rockabilly, and instro
stuff. Prior to the Reluctant Aquanauts we were all in a pop band
during our early years in college. www.myspace.com/theknobs
Guitar wise the only thing I'm proud of in that band was my solo
in "Anywhere you Are". Aside from that, I was collectin' surf gear.
