The Penetrators rocked Huntsville, Alabama's Flying Monkey Arts Center last
night, Saturday, Jan. 7, headlining a great evening for Rocket City SURF
fans.
Taking the stage around 9pm, these poster boys for Southern secret-agent
savvy tore through a set of mostly original material peppered intermittently
with fitting tributes to Link Wray (which was the theme of the night) for more
than an hour with appropriate super-spy precision. The crowd was a bit thin,
but enthusiastic, with more than a few pro musicians in attendance and looking
on in obvious approval as a good time was had by all.
Huntsville's own Rocket Scientists followed with a blistering set of classic
surf tunes mixed with a few originals borrowed from the lead guitarist
Santanu Mitra's other band Daikaiju.
I just want to thank Spanky and the boys for a great evening. We definitely
have to do it again . . .soon. Thanks guys!
