Short Review of Sand Devils/Surf Kings show last Fri.

Jeff (bigtikidude) - 30 Dec 2005 17:04:34

Hey All,
Just wanted to give a small heads up/props to both bands for a
killer show last week.
The turnout and dancin' chick factor was pretty high, always a good
sign.
I'd really like to impress upon people, to Check out the Sand Devils
Feat. Ran formerly of the Astroglides of Israel, and his buddy Hans
both on guitar. I have seen all 4 or 5 of their shows as a band.
And I really liked their power/speed/sound. But there was something
about this show, that really made them stick out in my mind.
They got a more Dynamic sound. They learned that if you mellow down a
bit, that the Heavier parts have more impact. The sound was more
precise, and clear. The songs semed to have better structure.Over all
I'm really impressed with thier direction, and can't wait for them to
get up to LA area to play, and get some recordings started soon.
the Surf Kings, Always professional, and mesmerising sound.
For those who haven't heard them, they are more on the
Psyche/experimental side of surf. But don't this let you think it's
mindless nodlleing and jamming. Everything is very thought out,
and well played. Some would call them a Mermen sounding band,
which would be totally wrong, but I'd say they are definetly their
own band and sound, and worth checking out their 2 cd's.
