Reverand Guitars

Greg (golerage) - 30 Dec 2005 11:23:12

Anyone have any experience with Reverand guitars?
I looked at them at the last NAMM show but this new model really
catches my eye, especially if it comes with a Bigsby option.
Take care,
Greg

I'm a wild-man about Reverend guitars I love their amps
and "Drivetrain" overdrives, too. I've got a "Spy" (3 Kent
Armstrong lipstock pickups) with a bigsby, and a Rocco
(2 Humbuckers w/coil tap) with no whammy. They are "players'
guitars": extremely resonent, sustain for days, super light
weight, great necks, terrific pickups, a cool retro look,
very well designed. The volume and tone controls have the
right taper and are very responsive. They stay in tune really
well. I couldn't be happier with mine. I hope to get a
"Slingshot Custom" or one of the new ones with P-90's.
Joe Naylor and his small staff are very accessable and
easy to deal with. I cannot recommend Reverend highly enough.
However, they are definitely very different, and not for
everybody. They have a trial period, so you can send them
back if not satisfied, no questions asked. I hope this helps...

I don't have any experience myself, but a friend of mine has a
Reverend bass and loves it.

Very Cool!
Thanks for the info. I am a sucker for guitars that are just outside
of the norm. Especially ones with Retro-cool vibe to them.
The Spy guitar looks awesome. I will have to be taking a test drive
soon.
Take care,
Greg

Greg,
I would be surprised if you didn't like Reverend's guitars.
Something I meant to mention in the previous post is that
Reverend's products offer a lot of bang for the buck. The
American models have skyrocketed in price over the last year
or so, I still think they are a great value. The new import
models look like a steal. I haven't seen a lot of surf guys
playing Reverends, but Ferenc Dobronyi from Pollo del Mar
plays a Spy, and Jeff Morris of the Cadillac Hitmen plays a
Slingshot or Slingshot Custom. Granted, these bands are not
pure traditional surf bands, but I think they pull some pretty
good surf tones (and much more) out of these guitars. Happy
hunting, and a Happy New Year!
