Speaking of buying Showman amps on Ebay, I was recently the recipient
of an attempted scam. I was interested in a BF Showman, but there were
no pictures. So I emailed the seller for photos. He sent some pictures
of a mint showman with the speaker cabinet and stated he'd be make me
a good "buy it now" price if I were interested. Well since the bids
were still low, I said I preferred to see how the auction plays out. I
then went on Ebay and placed a cursory bid for $500. Now this amp
should go for $1500 easy if it was the one in the photo.
Shortly after I bid, I received an email from Ebay stating that the
auction was terminated. So I emailed the guy back and asked what
happened. He wrote back that he wanted to sell it to me. This seemed
fishy, so I told him to forget it. I contacted Ebay, and they checked
into it and it turns out it was an unauthorized take over of the
original seller's account. So Beware, if it sounds too good to be
true, it probably is....
