Re: Deke's Guitar Geek Festival( glad to spread the word)

Jeff (bigtikidude) - 28 Dec 2005 20:11:12

No prob. Brian, I meant to post it here, but hadn't gotten around to it
it, I actually got the Info from Fellow Moby Dick, and Guitar player
form the Glasgow Tiki Shakers Bill McGlynn,So thanks Bill
(he's a lurker)
here's my little comment to Mike from USK on Cowabunga:
I here ya on the Shadows tribute band Mike, Ivan's Trobadors are
probably great. But this Band is to consit of 3 of the 4 Huntington
Cads minus SHAG of course. And I believe that Garret from the Ghastly
Ones is supposed to be on Rhythm Guitar.
I was/am a huge Cads fan, that got into them a bit late(only saw them
twice) and this is the closest thing to a Huntington Cads reunion I
can think of.
Plus all the other great Musicians,
The Eddie Angel Link Tribute should be outta site.
I'll be there with Bells on.

Wow, the Huntington Cads doing an all-Shadows set??? Awesome!
Their "Gonzales" on An Evening In Nivram Shadows tribute was one of
the highlights of that CD (and of course, they're an amazing band in
their own right). God, I wish I could be there for that!
Though, I must say that it's bit cheeky (to get a bit Brit for a
second) to describe themselves as "America's Only Shadows Tribute
Band"! I suspect it's just ignorance - it seems that for a lot of
trad-type people and bands in the SoCal, there's pretty much no
world that exists outside of SoCal.... In addition, the name
Shaddicts has been taken by some British club and website, and it's
even listed as a registered trademark... Oh well...
I wonder if they'll really have matching Burns Marvin guitars and
bass? Those things are EXPENSIVE, and not easy to find in the US...
Please give us a full report, Jeff!

Ivan,
Alot of these people you mention aren't real big on to the whole
surf/instro yahoo groups/myspace thing. So I can see how they might
not know of your tribute band.
I will try to take notes on equipment, and songs, sure hope they
record it. Also looking forward to the Eddie Angel Link Wray
tribute, sure hope Dave Arnson canget in on that as he's sucha big
link fan.
