Re: [SurfGuitar101] Re: Crazy Gigs OK, Ok, here's mine.........

John McCorvey (eddiekatcher) - 24 Dec 2005 07:42:14

Twice at an X-Rays gig, I got Flashed!!!! Once at Dottie's (a particularly
awful dive on the wrong side of Atlanta......right Spanky?), I was having a
really good night and in the middle of a rare moment of excellence, some drunk
gal pulled up her shirt and let me have it!!!! Wonderful, later she was
passed out in the parking lot. This happend again in Savannah where we were
set up in the basement of a club up against an inside glass wall. There were
a group of "people" on the other side of the wall and when I turned
around......boobs for days!!!! I got our drummer Ricky's attention and he
turned around to check out the action and promptly fell off his
stool........The stairs to carry Dual Showman Amps up at Smith's Olde Bar in
Atlanta come to mind also.....I was so pissed about that that I built some
lighter cabinets........ed

that come to mind...
Playing on the roof of an RV in the parking lot of Legion Field in
B'ham before an Alabama v Hillbilly - I mean- TN game.
Getting double booked with "Open mic Blues night' at Maxwell's in
Hoboken.
Playing the finish line of a Marathon in B'ham. Not much dancing at
that one.
Playing on the front porch of an old plantation mansion in Greensboro
AL on Easter. Sticks couldn't make that gig so Rollo sat in on drums.
Rollo being of the african american persuasion made for some funny
jokes.
We played on the roof of a house at a rugby party in Tuscaloosa.
Playing on the roof of the refreshment stand at the Starlight Drive-in
in Atlanta.
We set up the full band to play in a 6x10 room for a radio show in
Cincinnati.
And then there was the usually all black dance club in downtown B'ham
that was trying to attract 'white folks' so they booked us on a Wed
night. Imagine the bar in Animal HOuse with red velvet wall paper, take
out Ottis Day and the Knights and insert the Penetrators. We were
actually pretty well received by the folks who were there.
Have reverb, will travel....
