Re: [SurfGuitar101] A real Jazzmaster quickie

John McCorvey (eddiekatcher) - 22 Dec 2005 22:14:31

Thanks Brian, I have enjoyed you guys both times I have caught your show a
Trader Vics.....we don't yet have a website but plan on putting one up in '06.
The Surge! is now 4-piece (again) with the addition of Richard Hawes (Richard
on 101) on rhythm guitar. It allows me to "breath" a little and play with a
more relaxed approach. It also allows us to actually play at a lower volume
level...We snuck into your back yard and picked up Surf Expo 2006 in Orlando at
the convention center the week of Jan 13....sorry, couldn't help ourselves. I
plan to meet up with the guys from Ron Jon's Surf Shop and pitch them several
ideas I have for some surf shows tied to their opening an inland surf park in
Orlando in the spring....I'll keep you posted. We really do need to put a
show together with you guys...we will travel to Florida for little (or
nothing). So keep us in mind.....oh yeah, Jazzmaster quickies........90% of
Jazzmaster problems are due to the bridge....you can make
a big improvement by re-shimming the neck, which will require that you raise
the bridge to compensate for it.....more down pressure on the bridge is
good...also when you get the neck/bridge set up the way you like it, use a
very low grade locktite or clear fingernail polish on the set screws to keep
them secure....They WILL get loose and give you the ass... Also a pickup
upgrade and minor electronics mod will do WONDERS for that rascal...first get
the set up happening then we will talk electronics mods.....easy
stuff.......Gotta run, please pass along our Best Reverbs, Eddie Sticks,
Richard, and Mitch

in mind when I run into problems with
it... I really couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the jazzmaster
sitting behind the counter... in a corner... next to a set of crappy
golf clubs... I asked the manager if it was for sale... then what
the price was... paid... and laughed all the way back to my
office!!!!!
It's the sunburst design with the a red tortoise pickguard...
You're welcome about the positive press too... You guys put on an
awesome show that night... So it was well deserved praise...
(Wow, I'm floored that someone actually went to our website and read
something... Sweet! )
Do you guys have a website? I would be more than happy to add a
link... So, Let me know...
Anyway, it would be nice to have another show with both The Surge
and The Intoxicators!... We'll have to work on that in '06...
Cheers!

regards and thanks for the positive press on the Intoxicators
