Greg Koch

Robb Lowe (robbhatesit) - 15 Dec 2005 21:00:26

Any of you 'slingers ever hear of a guy named Greg Koch? Seems he's a hot hand
that works as
a demonstrator for Fender. He has a few albums (check amazon), one of which has
a tune
called "Carlos Dale" - which he describes as a what would happen if Carlos
Santana and Dick
Dale got together. Anyone hear this? Comments on him?

Yeah. There's a little Santana, a microscopic amount of 90's DD, and a whole lot
of go-nowhere shredding. It's also the only song I ever paid for on iTunes and
then deleted.

Yeah - the sample is pretty darn boring!

Koch is an amazing demo guy for Fender, and very
funny. But his humor doesn't translate into his
compositions...

I listened to several of the samples from Greg Koch's "The Grip," and I have
to agree. There was one tune (Steppin' Out (Live)) that had a bit of Rory
Gallagher flavor, but unlike what I've heard from The Neptunes, The Madeira,
and Coffin Daggers, there isn't much composition to it - it's a lot of
meedley meedly without the melody! Don't get me wrong, though. I think
he's got tons of talent, but he just needs a bit of direction.
